|Kenneth Pavlinec, PT, Cert MDT – Graduated Cum Laude from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT in 1997. Course work included gross anatomy at Yale. Over 20 years experience in an outpatient setting and local regional trauma center and excelled as a Senior Level I therapist for acute, outpatient, and home care environments. In 2001, became one of approximately 750 Certified MDT McKenzie specialists in the world for treatment of pain of spinal origin. Extensive continuing education focused on “hands-on” therapy utilizing mobilization techniques for all joints. Extensive athletic background consisting of baseball, football, basketball, track and field, cross-country, marathons(New Jersey 2008, New York City 2010), road races and triathlons which make these personal experiences contribute to sports specific rehabilitation that is immeasurable. |Karen J. Schechter, PT / TMJ Specialist – Graduated from Daemon College in 1989 majoring in physical therapy with a minor in Biology and Psychology. Karen has over 27 years experience as a physical therapist, instructor and clinical coordinator in multiple clinical settings of outpatient orthopedics, home care, school based therapy, and pediatrics. Karen has obtained a specialization from UMDNJ for Orofacial and TMJ Disorders and has experience in rehabilitation of Bowel and Bladder Dysfunction. She has a focus of manual soft tissue techniques and myofascial release. |Kerry L. Walsh, PT, MS – Kerry graduated from Springfield College in 1995 with a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy. She specializes in treating children with a variety of diagnoses including Torticollis, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Sensory Integration Disorders, developmental delay, and various other neurological and orthopedic conditions at our Toms River location. Kerry utilizes her 22 years of experience with a concentration in the 0-3 population. Kerry practiced in a wide variety of pediatric settings including NICU, acute care, home based Early Intervention, outpatient, and long term care rehabilitation. In addition she has worked at Children’s Specialized Hospital in Toms River, NJ and continues to serve at a co-facilitator of their Autism Support Group. She utilizes both clinical expertise and extensive course work in NDT, MFR, Craniosacral Therapy and Sensory Integration to provide her patients with comprehensive manual care. Kerry has been the guest speaker at several conferences for early childhood educators and most recently was a co-presenter for “Evaluation and Treatment of the Child with Autism” at the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association Annual Conference. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Pediatrics Section of the APTA, as well as the New Jersey Physical Therapy Association. Kerry is active in her community and has served as the assistant director of Maternal Wings Charity for Expectant Mothers in 2007. |Andrew Grando , PT, DPT, Cert MDT – Andrew completed his undergraduate education with an interdepartmental major in Biology and Psychology at Moravian College. While there, Andrew also focused on his passion for athletics, playing football and achieving All-Conference Honors and the distinction of the title of captain his senior year. After college, Andrew began to develop his career working as an aid at Hands On Physical Therapy, and graduated from Rutgers University in 2014 with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Andrew developed a passion for research and education while at Rutgers working as a Gross Anatomy and Neuroscience teaching assistant in addition to serving as a research assistant in the Rivers Lab where he developed and conducted research projects involving mental imagery, virtual reality, and 3D imaging for stroke patients. During this time he also continued to hone his clinical skills completing affiliations in acute, sports-based outpatient, hospital-based outpatient, and pediatric care. In addition to his core course work, Andrew also focused on community outreach during his time at Rutgers participating in a free physical therapy clinic for members of the Newark community as well as Wellness for Life, an outreach program serving the physical therapy needs of the mentally ill. Andrew obtained his McKenzie Certification in Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy in 2016 and hopes to become a Diplomat of the McKenzie Method in the near future.|
|Gianna Torsiello, PT, DPT
Gianna completed her undergraduate education from Stockton University with a major in Biology and a minor in Holistic Health in 2013. While there, Gianna developed her passion for education and health sciences by working as a Physiology teaching assistant. Gianna was exposed to the healthcare profession and exercise science by working in the student Health Services office and Athletic Facilities department. Gianna graduated from Rutgers University with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2016. While there, Gianna honed her clinical practice skills by treating patients in the Community Participatory PT Clinic. Gianna pursued her interest in treating the neurologic population in the Rivers lab where she was exposed to virtual reality, 3D imagery, and console gaming and its contribution to motor learning. Gianna completed clinical rotations in various settings which include acute care in a regional hospital’s trauma and neurologic ICU, level 1 inpatient rehabilitation facility, and outpatient therapy. Gianna is currently pursuing a certification in the McKenzie method of mechanical diagnosis and therapy to provide a more comprehensive approach of treatment to patients.
|Amit Nair, OTR/L – Specializing in Hand Therapy
Amit obtained his Bachelors in Occupational Therapy from GS Medical College in Mumbai, India. He is currently studying for his Certified Hand Therapy Certification and plans to sit for this exam in late 2017 or early 2018. Amit has experience in a inpatient and outpatient hospital setting specializing in plastic surgery, burns and hand reconstruction. Amit also has experience in multiple settings of occupational therapy consisting of acute care, sub acute care and home care. He was also a Director of Rehabilitation in multiple sub acute facilities. Additional training and certifications in Stroke rehabilitation, wheelchair seating/positioning, and dementia management. We welcome Amit to Team Hands On as he spearheads being the supervisor for all Occupational therapists at all our facilities.
