The First Head Body Transplant!

The First Head Body Transplant!

The First Head Body Transplant!

June 29, 2015

Did you know that a neurosurgeon from Italy, plans to perform the first complete head and body transplant in 2017?  He is going to transplant the head of a man with a degenerative disease, on to a donor body.  He wants to build a team of over 100 neurosurgeons, whose soul job is to plan and perform this surgery over the next two years.  He has supposedly even contacted Bill Gates for funding.  He stated in a recent interview, that he is going to use a scalpel sharpened with nano-technology to slice the spinal cord. This way the ends are cleanly cut, and he has the best chance for the nerves to regrow.  Throughout the surgery, the recipient of the body will have his head on complete bypass, which will circulate blood to his brain the entire time using pumps and tubes.  We understand this is not necessarily in our scope of practice, but Hands On Physical Therapy is currently attempting to contact the surgeon about post surgical physical therapy. Feel free to comment, share, and weigh in.
